Baseball Game Preview: Idalou Wildcats vs. Wall Hawks

Idalou hasn't had much luck against Wall recently, but that could start to change on Saturday. The Wildcats will take on the Hawks. Idalou will be looking to extend their current 13-game winning streak.

Idalou is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. They blew past Compass Academy 11-1. The Wildcats might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 17 contests by six runs or more this season.

Meanwhile, Wall posted their closest victory since March 6th on Thursday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 4-2 win over Henrietta. The victory was familiar territory for the Hawks, who have now won five matchups in a row.

Gage Reichenau spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered two runs (both of which were unearned) on two hits and racked up seven Ks. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Gunnar Dillard, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with one run and one RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Hagyn Barbee, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases and one run.

Wall pushed their record up to 27-5 with the win, which was their 19th straight at home dating back to last season. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.2 runs on average over those games. As for Idalou, their win bumped their record up to 24-5-1.

Idalou might still be hurting after the 17-2 defeat they got from Wall in their previous meeting back in February of 2024. Can the Wildcats avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
