Basketball Recap: Spotsylvania Takes a Loss

Spotsylvania was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their 19th straight defeat. They were outmatched by the Mechanicsville Mustangs and fell 65-29. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Mustangs this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 52-40 back in December of 2024.

Leading Mechanicsville to victory were Carys Khan and Kate Carlton. Khan went 5-for-10 en route to 14 points and five steals, while Carlton posted 13 points and five steals. That's the most points Khan has posted since back in December of 2024. Madeline Frantz was another key player, putting up 11 points and five rebounds.

Spotsylvania's loss dropped their record down to 1-19. As for Mechanicsville, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 11-11.

Spotsylvania does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Mechanicsville, they will host Eastern View at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. Mechanicsville has been dominant on offense recently, having racked up an incredible 195 points over their last three matches.
