Basketball Recap: Pinnacle Victorious

It's playoff time, and Pinnacle had no trouble coming through when it counted. They came out on top against the Higley Knights by a score of 74-62 on Wednesday. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Pioneers also won the last time the pair played back in December of 2022.

It was another big night for Ryan Nelson, who shot 62% from the field en route to 28 points and five assists. The last time his field goal percentage was this high was back in December of 2024. Cam Hurt was another key player, putting up 13 points along with seven boards and six assists.

Pinnacle smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive boards. They are 4-1 when they hit their own glass that hard.

Despite the loss, Higley still got an impressive performance from Gavin Dabney, who went 10-for-19 on his way to 23 points and six rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Noah Gloor, who shot 42% from the field to rack up 21 points.

The victory made it two in a row for Pinnacle and bumps their season record up to 10-17. A key ingredient in that success has been their performance when it comes to offensive rebounds: they averaged an imposing 15 offensive boards in those games compared to only 7.56 in the others. As for Higley, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 20-8 record this season.

Pinnacle didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 51-37 loss against Mesa on the 28th. Higley does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
