 If Covenant Christian was riding high  off their  15-5 takedown of Warren Central on Saturday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Covenant Christian Warriors fell just short of the Whiteland Warriors by a score of  5-3 on Saturday.
 Covenant Christian saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was  Nolan Jones, who  scored a  run while going 1-for-4.
 On Whiteland's side,  Ethan Engel spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered three  runs (all of which were unearned)  on eight hits and racked up six Ks. Engel has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't  given up  more than two  walks in eight consecutive pitching appearances.
 On the hitting side,  Peyton Dickens was  incredible,  scoring a  run and  stealing three bases while going 2-for-3. Another player making a difference was  Maalik Perkins, who  scored a  run and  stole a base while going 1-for-3.
 Covenant Christian's loss dropped their record down to 8-15. As for Whiteland,  the  victory  made it two in a row for them and  bumps their season record up to 13-8.
 Covenant Christian will be playing at home against Indianapolis Lutheran at 5:30  p.m.  on Monday. Indianapolis Lutheran is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.5  runs per game  this season. As for Whiteland, they will head out on the road to  face off against  Mooresville at 6:00  p.m.  on Tuesday.
