Softball Recap: Coleman Gets the Win

Coleman proved they can win big on Wednesday (they won by 16) and on Saturday they proved they can win the close ones too. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past the Beaverton Beavers 5-4. For the Comets, this counts as revenge for the 12-7 win the Beavers walked away with the last time they faced one another back in May of 2025.

Raegan McCoy made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over seven innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off ten hits (and only one walk). She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one walk in six consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Klaira Sysak, who went 1-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.

Coleman is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-7 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.0 runs over those games. As for Beaverton, they are on a seven-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 7-16.

Coleman didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 7-3 defeat against Meridian on the 9th. As for Beaverton, they will welcome Standish-Sterling at 4:00 p.m. on Monday.
