Softball Preview: Lassen Grizzlies vs. University Prep Panthers
The Lassen Grizzlies will be playing at home against the University Prep Panthers at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Lassen comes in on four and University Prep on six.
On Tuesday, Lassen earned a 13-8 victory over Yreka.
Lassen got a great performance from Lexy Yoshida-Snyder as she tossed 6.1 innings while giving up four earned (and four unearned) runs off nine hits. Yoshida-Snyder has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive pitching appearances.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Delilah Delgado, who scored two runs while going 2-for-4. The team also got some help courtesy of Kenzie De La Cruz, who scored a run while going 3-for-4.
Meanwhile, University Prep won against West Valley on Thursday with three runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Tuesday. University Prep's pitcher stepped up to hand Central Valley a 3-0 shutout.
The result came thanks to Gracie Hornbuckle's shutout, as she gave up just one hit and racked up 12 Ks.
On the hitting side, Leigha Wood was incredible, going 2-for-3 with two triples, a run, and an RBI.
