Baseball Recap: Mount Anthony's Undefeated Season over After Six Games

After flying high against Rutland on Saturday, Mount Anthony came back down to earth. The Patriots fell just short of the Otter Valley Otters by a score of 2-1 on Thursday. The loss was the Patriots' first of the season.

Reily Granger was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he tossed 5.1 innings while giving up just two earned runs off six hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Jacoby Dicranian was cooking despite his team's loss, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one stolen base and one run. Sean Moriarty also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Having lost for the first time this season, Mount Anthony fell to 4-1-1. As for Otter Valley, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 3-2.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Mount Anthony will host South Burlington at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for Otter Valley, they will welcome Bellows Falls at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
