Softball Recap: Mission Oak Triumphs

Mission Oak won the last time they faced Reedley and things went their way on Thursday too. Mission Oak walked away with a 7-4 victory over Reedley. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Hawks.

Maleena Martin spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and two unearned) runs on eight hits. She has been consistent : she hasn't given up more than one walk in eight consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Jadyn Albright, who fired off two home runs and six RBI while going 2-for-4. Those six RBI gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Braelyn Serpa, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 2-for-4.

Mission Oak hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now struck out at most two strikeouts in five consecutive contests.

The win got Mission Oak back to even at 7-7-1. As for Reedley, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-5.

Mission Oak and Reedley could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps California Rankings. Mission Oak will square off against Madera at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday down 267 places (367 vs. 100). Meanwhile, Reedley (ranked 442nd) will meet Hanford West (ranked 44th) at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
