Basketball Recap: Hailey Knight Key Part of a Team Effort in Firebirds Win

Southern Nash hadn't done well against Franklinton recently (they were 0-9 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Thursday. The Southern Nash Firebirds came out on top against the Franklinton Red Rams by a score of 44-33. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Firebirds.

Southern Nash's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Hailey Knight, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and ten rebounds. Those ten boards gave Knight a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Terri Richardson, who posted ten points in addition to seven rebounds and three steals.

Franklinton's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Meredith Wilkins, who earned 17 points. Another player making a difference was Rihanna Hunt, who scored nine points.

The victory got Southern Nash back to even at 8-8. As for Franklinton, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 6-8.

Coincidentally, the two teams will both be playing Bunn the next time they take the court. Franklinton will head out to face Bunn at 5:45 p.m. on Friday, while Southern Nash will head out to face them at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
