Baseball Game Preview: Raytown South Cardinals vs. Washington Wildcats

The Raytown South Cardinals will take on the Washington Wildcats at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Raytown South's pitching crew heads into the matchup hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Monday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past North Kansas City 1-0.

The result came thanks to Reed Hamby's shutout, as he gave up just three hits and racked up nine Ks. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Raytown South is 2-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 2-9 otherwise.

At the plate, Raytown South's win was truly a team effort as four different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Marcellus Goudeau, who went 1-for-3 with one run.

Meanwhile, Washington was able to grind out a solid victory over Highland Park on Tuesday, taking the game 10-7. The Wildcats haven't had any issues with the Scots recently, as the game was their third consecutive win against them.

Ryan Hooks made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He struck out six batters over 3.1 innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits (and only one walk). Hooks was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.

Washington always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .567. That was just more of the same: they've now posted an OBP of .500 or higher in three consecutive games.

Raytown South's victory bumped their record up to 4-10. As for Washington, their win bumped their record up to 5-10.
