Baseball Recap: Pelham Gets the Win

The third road contest was the charm for Pelham, as they earned their first away win of the season. They came out on top against the Merrimack Valley Pride by a score of 7-2 on Tuesday. For the Pythons, this counts as revenge for the 5-4 victory the Pride walked away with the last time they faced one another back in May of 2022.

Jake Davidson spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on two hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on James Patchen, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double. He also put up a hit, which was his first of the season. Nick Muise was another key player, going 1-for-4 with two RBI and one run.

The win got Pelham back to even at 2-2. As for Merrimack Valley, they are on a five-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-3.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Pelham is set to face off against their familiar foe Hollis-Brookline at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Pythons 2.2, the Cavaliers 3.2) so any runs scored will be well earned. Meanwhile, Merrimack Valley will square off against rival Kennett at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
