Basketball Recap: Central Christian Starts Season with Win at Home

Central Christian took care of business in their home opener on Friday. They came out on top against the Gulf Pointe Latin Gladiators by a score of 63-52. The Saints have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Gladiators, too.

When it comes to explaining why Gulf Pointe Latin lost, don't look at Jacob Scarberry. Despite the final result, he posted 22 points along with six boards and six blocks. The team also got some help courtesy of John DeFore, who put up six points.

Gulf Pointe Latin's defeat was their fourth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-1.

Looking ahead, Central Christian will be taking part in a tournament against Franklin Road Christian at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Gulf Pointe Latin, they have already played their next game, a 79-40 win against Covenant Christian on the 18th.
