Basketball Recap: Nederland Falls Despite Big Games from Mason Ivey and Cedar Shupe

Nederland was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their 12th straight defeat. They came up short against the STEM School Highlands Ranch Spartans, falling 50-25. The Panthers were down 39-19 at the end of the third quarter, and things only got worse from there.

Nederland's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Cedar Shupe, who posted eight points and nine rebounds, and Mason Ivey, who earned 11 points. The dominant performance gave Shupe a new career-high in points. The team also got some help courtesy of Indio Koonz, who had two points and eight boards.

STEM School Highlands Ranch got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Braden Calme out in front who went 5 of 8 on his way to 10 points and four steals. Kaden Morrison was another key player, putting up seven points and nine rebounds.

Nederland's defeat dropped their record down to 1-15. As for STEM School Highlands Ranch, their record is now 11-8.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Nederland will head out to square off against Two Roads Charter School at 5:30 p.m. on February 19th. As for STEM School Highlands Ranch, they will venture away from home to face off against Poudre Community Academy at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
