Saratoga Central Catholic is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Sunday. They blew past Ticonderoga 11-1. Considering the Saints have won 19 games by more than six runs this season, Sunday's blowout was nothing new.
Pierce Byrne made a splash while hitting and pitching. He tossed three innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two RBI and one run.

In other batting news, Saratoga Central Catholic let Hunter Fales and Kihl Kelly run wild. Fales went 2-for-3 with three runs, one triple, and one RBI, while Kelly went 1-for-2 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI. That's the most runs Fales has posted since back in May. Ryan Gillis was another key player, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with one run, one double, and one RBI.
Saratoga Central Catholic always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .600. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Ticonderoga only posted an OBP of .250.
Meanwhile, Burke Catholic got themselves on the board against Tuckahoe on Sunday, but Tuckahoe never followed suit. They had just enough and edged out the Tigers 2-0. Those two runs were actually the fewest Burke Catholic has put up all season, but given the result they're probably not too concerned.
The result came thanks to Jordan Drucker's shutout, as he gave up just two hits and racked up seven Ks.
At the plate, Dylan DeMaro was excellent, going 1-for-2 with two runs and one stolen base.
The victory keeps Burke Catholic at an undefeated 8-0. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they've averaged 9.8 runs this season. As for Saratoga Central Catholic, their record is now 25-1.
Friday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Saratoga Central Catholic hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .390. However, it's not like Burke Catholic struggles in that department as they've averaged .404. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
