Recap: Wausa Vikings vs. Hartington-Newcastle Wildcats

The Wausa Vikings lost against the Hartington-Newcastle Wildcats last Tuesday, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. Wausa fell 53-44 to Hartington-Newcastle. Wausa has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Wausa lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Sienna West, who scored 16 points. It was the first time this season that West scored 15 or more points. Another player making a difference was Taylor Dawson, who scored 12 points along with six rebounds and three steals.

Wausa dropped their record down to 4-15 with that loss, which was their sixth straight on the road. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 29.7 points per game. As for Hartington-Newcastle, they now have a winning record of 10-9.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Wausa will be staying on the road on Thursday to face off against Neligh-Oakdale at 6:00 p.m. on February 8th. Hopefully Neligh-Oakdale focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 16 last Monday. As for Hartington-Newcastle, they will head out on the road to take on Wynot at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
