Fort Wayne Concordia Lutheran hasn't had much luck against Homestead recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Cadets will welcome the Spartans at 5:30 p.m. Fort Wayne Concordia Lutheran is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.3 runs per game this season.
On Wednesday, Fort Wayne Concordia Lutheran got the win against Fort Wayne Wayne by a conclusive 10-2.
Alexis Spreen made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Spreen was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two RBI. That's the most hits she has posted since back in May of 2024.
In other batting news, Raelyn Koesters was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and one triple. Reagan Vowles was another key player, going 3-for-4 with two stolen bases and two runs.
Fort Wayne Concordia Lutheran was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .414. They are 2-1 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Meanwhile, Homestead lost a heartbreaker to South Adams when they met back in April of 2023, and they left with a heavy heart again on Tuesday. The Spartans took a 5-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Starfires. The Spartans were red-hot at the plate heading into the match (they scored no less than ten runs in the three games prior), but the Starfires' pitchers proved too tough.
Chelsie Rosine was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: she didn't allow a single earned run while striking out eight over 4.2 innings pitched.
At the plate, Homestead saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Trinity Rager, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base. That stolen base marked the first that Rager has snagged this season.
The victory was their first at home , bumping their record up to 2-5. As for Homestead, their defeat ended a four-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 4-2.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Thursday. Fort Wayne Concordia Lutheran hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.4 home runs per game. However, it's not like Homestead struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 1.2 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
