Recap: Seminole Seminoles vs. Downey Christian Patriots
The Seminole Seminoles had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 8 points), and they went ahead and made it three on Saturday. They enjoyed a cozy 51-35 victory over Downey Christian. For Seminole, this counts as revenge for the 50-47 defeat Downey Christian walked away with the last time they faced one another back in January of 2023.
Several Patriots players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Valeria Lopez, who scored 11 points along with nine rebounds and four steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Erialys Lopez, who scored nine points along with three blocks.
Seminole has been performing well recently as they've won seven of their last nine contests, which provided a nice bump to their 9-4 record this season. As for Downey Christian, their loss was their fifth straight on the road, which bumped their record down to 5-9.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Seminole will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on DeLand at 1:00 p.m. on January 11th. As for Downey Christian, they will be playing in front of their home fans against AZ Compass Prep National on Friday. AZ Compass Prep National's defense has only allowed 14.2 points per game this season, so Downey Christian's offense will have their work cut out for Downey Christian.
