Softball Recap: Tuesday's Victory Is River Ridge's Third in Last Four Outings

It's playoff time, and River Ridge had no trouble coming through when it counted. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Wesley Chapel Wildcats a 5-0 shutout on Tuesday. This was a revenge game for the Royal Knights: when they faced off against the Wildcats on April 3rd, they had to take a 3-2 loss.

Not much got past Lilly Jackson, who gave up just two hits to keep Wesley Chapel off the board. Jackson has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in five consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Mia Schwaner, who went 2-for-4 with one home run and two runs. That home run was her first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of Taylor Hopstad, who went 1-for-2 with one run and one RBI.

River Ridge is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a massive bump to their 12-11 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.3 runs over those games. As for Wesley Chapel, their defeat ended a five-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 13-11.

Looking ahead, River Ridge will take on Springstead at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Eagles' pitching crew has only allowed 3.7 runs per game this season, so the Royal Knights' hitters will have their work cut out for them. Wesley Chapel does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
