Basketball Recap: Noah Haywood's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Pamlico Christian Academy over Terra Ceia Christian

Pamlico Christian Academy fought the good fight in their overtime match against Terra Ceia Christian on Saturday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell to the Terra Ceia Christian Knights 68-62. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game on Friday (59), the Mariners still had to take the loss.

Pamlico Christian Academy's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Noah Haywood, who posted 12 points along with eight boards and five assists. Those 12 points gave Haywood a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Brady Caccavaro, who put up 12 points and seven rebounds.

Haywood wasn't the only one working in the assists department: Pamlico Christian Academy was working as a unit and finished the game with 17 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Terra Ceia Christian only racked up nine assists.

Aidan Persons was his usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 29 points and 12 boards for Terra Ceia Christian. Seth Meijer was another key player, putting up five points in addition to 17 rebounds and seven blocks.

Pamlico Christian Academy's defeat was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 10-1 and their overall record down to 19-5. As for Terra Ceia Christian, the win (which was their 13th in a row) raised their record to 15-2.

Pamlico Christian Academy has already played their next game, a 47-44 victory against Jacksonville Christian Academy on the 4th. As for Terra Ceia Christian, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 1-0 win against Fellowship Christian Academy on the 3rd.
