Football Game Preview: Crestwood Comets vs. North Pocono Trojans

The Crestwood Comets will head out to face off against the North Pocono Trojans at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Crestwood will roll into the matchup after a wild two-game stretch: they only put up seven points two weeks ago, then bounced right back against Wyoming Valley West on Friday. The Comets really took it to the Spartans for the full four quarters, racking up a 49-14 victory. The high-scoring performance was a welcome turnaround for the Comets' offense, which had struggled in the games prior.

One reason for the win was Crestwood's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for three sacks. In fact, those sacks all came courtesy of defensive juggernaut Carson Oresick. Crestwood is 2-1 when Oresick posts one or more sacks, but 3-4 otherwise.

Meanwhile, North Pocono is still undefeated this season after their game against Scranton Prep on Friday, but Scranton Prep came as close as anyone has to beating them. The Trojans skirted past the Cavaliers 24-21.

North Pocono's record is now 10-0. As for Crestwood, the win got them back to even at 5-5.

Crestwood ended up a good deal behind North Pocono in their previous matchup back in October of 2023, losing 27-10. Can the Comets avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
