Basketball Game Preview: Mountain View Mountain Lions vs. Berthoud Spartans

Mountain View is 10-0 against Berthoud since December of 2016 and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Mountain View Mountain Lions will venture away from home to square off against the Berthoud Spartans at 7:00 p.m. Mountain View is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 63.4 points per game this season.

Mountain View is probably headed into the contest with a chip on their shoulder considering Severance just ended the team's five-game winning streak on Tuesday. They fell 47-36 to the Silver Knights. The game marked the Mountain Lions' lowest-scoring match so far this season.

Despite the defeat, Mountain View had strong showings from Dylan Garland, who went 7 for 13 on his way to 18 points in addition to six rebounds and three steals, and Cole Tonniges, who posted eight points and six boards. Garland is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last eight games he's played.

Meanwhile, Berthoud unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Tuesday. They took a 55-49 hit to the loss column at the hands of Greeley Central.

Berthoud's loss dropped their record down to 5-10. As for Mountain View, their defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 9-7.

Mountain View didn't have too much breathing room in their contest against Berthoud in their previous matchup back in December of 2024, but they still walked away with a 60-54 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Mountain View since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
