Softball Recap: St. Clair Triumphs

While St. Clair's victory against Utica wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Saints skirted past the Chieftains 10-8. That's two games straight that the Saints have won by exactly two runs.

St. Clair let Madisyn Treat and Emma Hustek run wild. Treat went 1-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base, while Hustek went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double. Treat is crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: she's snagged at least one every time she's taken the field this season. Another player making a difference was Maliyah Smith, who got on base in two of her five plate appearances with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.

The win made it two in a row for St. Clair and bumps their season record up to 5-2. They've had to fight for that success though, as they only beat their opponents by an average of two runs across that stretch. As for Utica, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-4 record this season.

St. Clair will take on Marysville at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Utica, they will face off against Cousino at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Chieftains' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Patriots have averaged an impressive 11.2 runs per game this season.
