Baseball Recap: Stoneham Comes Up Short

Stoneham had lost five straight on the road dating back to last season, but on Wednesday they dropped down to 5-6 to make it six. They fell just short of the Arlington Spy Ponders by a score of 3-2. If the Spartans were looking for revenge after losing 8-7 to the Spy Ponders when the teams met back in April of 2025, then they'll just have to keep looking.

As for Arlington, the victory (which was their eighth in a row) raised their record to 10-3-1. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.5 runs on average over those games.

For Arlington's part, the team relied heavily on Jake Arsenault, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base, one double, and one RBI. That stolen base was Arsenault's first of the season.

Looking ahead, Stoneham will head out to challenge Watertown at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Arlington, they will take on Reading Memorial at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
