The Riverview Sarasota Rams will head out to challenge the Parrish Community Bulls at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Parrish Community took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Riverview Sarasota, who comes in off a win.
Riverview Sarasota headed into their last game having not scored more than two runs for four straight, but Mariner let them put that streak behind them. The Rams blew past the Tritons 11-5 on Tuesday. The win was some much needed relief for the Rams as it spelled an end to their nine-game losing streak.
Jaxon Nessmith looked comfortable as he pitched 3.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Logan Cocco was a standout: he scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4. Those two hits gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Caiden Cabral, who scored two runs while going 3-for-4.
Riverview Sarasota kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, Wednesday just wasn't the day for Parrish Community's offense. They came up short against Venice on Wednesday, falling 9-0. Having soared to a lofty ten runs in the game before, the Bulls' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.
Parrish Community also got a good showing from Brycen Volz, who pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit.
Riverview Sarasota's record now sits at 4-15. As for Parrish Community, with the loss, they broke their nine-game winning streak and moved their record to 15-4.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Thursday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Riverview Sarasota has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 6.7 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Parrish Community struggles in that department as they've been averaging 8.5 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Riverview Sarasota couldn't quite get it done against Parrish Community in their previous meeting back in March as they fell 7-4. Can the Rams avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
