It may have taken nine innings to finish the job, but Beverly ultimately got the result they hoped for on Wednesday. They had just enough and edged out the Methuen Rangers 4-3. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Panthers have posted since April 16th.
Beverly got a great performance from Brayden Haley as he didn't allow a single earned run over 4.2 innings pitched. What's more, Haley posted three strikeouts, the most he's had since back in April.
At the plate, Beverly saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Colby McLane, who went 1-for-3 with one run and one RBI.
The victory made it two in a row for Beverly and bumps their season record up to 11-8. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.0 runs over those games. As for Methuen, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 8-12 record this season.
Beverly will head out to challenge Revere at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Methuen does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
