Volleyball Recap: Packinghouse Christian Academy Takes a Loss

Packinghouse Christian Academy was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat dating back to last season. They came up short against the Calvary Baptist Cougars, falling 3-0. The Bears were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Cougars apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in October of 2024.

Packinghouse Christian Academy took the loss but they managed to make steady progress, increasing their score in every set they played. The final score came out to 25-9, 25-11, 25-21.

Savannah Ybarra paced Packinghouse Christian Academy's offense, picking up six kills. Ybarra got some help from Lilly Cornejo and her six assists. Cornejo also made an impact serving: she shared the team lead in aces with Alana Alstot, racking up two apiece.

Calvary Baptist can attribute much of their success to Aubrey Gelskey, who had six digs and three aces. That's the most aces Gelskey has posted over her last six matches. Kailey Gomez also deserves some recognition as she served her first ace of the season.

Packinghouse Christian Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 0-4. As for Calvary Baptist, the win keeps them at an undefeated 9-0.

Looking ahead, Packinghouse Christian Academy will square off against Cornerstone Christian at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Calvary Baptist, they have already played their next game, a 3-0 victory against Mesrobian on the 28th.
