Baseball Game Preview: Lampasas Badgers vs. Marble Falls Mustangs

The Lampasas Badgers will head out on the road to face off against the Marble Falls Mustangs at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Lampasas is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last nine games.

Lampasas barely beat Gateway College Preparatory the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Badgers were the clear victors by an 8-1 margin over the Gators on Thursday. Considering the Badgers have won ten games by more than six runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Calvin Phelps spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on three hits and racked up 14 Ks. He has been consistent for a while: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in 11 consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Peyton Sisson, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one double. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in May of 2025. The team also got some help courtesy of Anthony Dimas, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases.

Meanwhile, Marble Falls didn't have quite enough to beat Salado on Wednesday and fell 2-1. The Mustangs haven't had much luck with the Eagles recently, as the team has come up short the last four times they've met.

Lampasas' victory bumped their record up to 16-5-4. As for Marble Falls, their defeat dropped their record down to 15-5.

Lampasas beat Marble Falls 5-2 when the teams last played back in April of 2025. Will the Badgers repeat their success, or do the Mustangs have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
