The Independence Patriots are taking a road trip to challenge the Sierra Linda Bulldogs at 3:45 p.m. on Tuesday. Independence is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 10.3 runs per game this season.

Independence is headed into the contest having just posted their closest win since March 31st on Thursday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past Glendale 10-9. The home team had taken home the W every time these teams have met since April 5, 2023, but that streak is no more.

Mariana Perez Vargas made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching five innings while giving up just one earned (and six unearned) runs off seven hits. Perez Vargas was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with two runs and one double.

In other batting news, Genevieve De La Cruz was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Alyssa Ortega was another key player, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

Meanwhile, Sierra Linda didn't have quite enough to beat Washington on Thursday and fell 12-10.

Independence's record is now 11-3. As for Sierra Linda, their loss was their sixth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 2-11.

Independence took their win against Sierra Linda in their previous matchup back in April of 2015 by a conclusive 11-0 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Patriots since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
