Basketball Recap: Pasadena Memorial Takes a Loss

Pasadena Memorial lost against Alvin back in November of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Pasadena Memorial Mavericks fell 40-33 to the Alvin Yellowjackets.

Despite the loss, Pasadena Memorial still got an impressive performance from Emma Reeves, who almost dropped a double-double on nine points and 13 rebounds. With that strong performance, Reeves is now averaging an impressive 8.1 rebounds per game.

Even though they lost, Pasadena Memorial smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive rebounds in three consecutive matches.

Alvin's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Kailyn Griggs, who almost dropped a double-double on nine points and 11 rebounds. Those nine points gave Griggs a new career-high. Peyton Turner was another key player, putting up seven points and six steals.

Pasadena Memorial's loss was their fifth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 3-15. As for Alvin, their record is now 8-19.

Pasadena Memorial and Alvin could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Texas Rankings. Pasadena Memorial (ranked 1127th) will meet Manvel (ranked 93rd) at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Alvin (ranked 990th) will meet Shadow Creek (ranked 143rd) at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
