Basketball Recap: Seton Catholic Central Falls Despite Big Games from Michael Mannix and Oliver Hughes

After flying high against Crown Point last Tuesday, Seton Catholic Central came back down to earth. The Seton Catholic Central Knights lost to the Boquet Valley Griffins at home by a 55-36 margin on Thursday. The Knights have struggled against the Griffins recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive lost matchup.

Despite the defeat, Seton Catholic Central had strong showings from Oliver Hughes, who posted ten points, and Michael Mannix, who put up eight points and four steals. Mannix has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last three times he's played. Matt Debay was another key player, putting up seven points.

Carson Leibeck was his usual excellent self, going 12 of 23 on his way to 26 points and four steals for Boquet Valley. That makes it seven consecutive games in which Leibeck has scored at least a third of Boquet Valley's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Colba Furman, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 14 boards.

Seton Catholic Central's loss dropped their record down to 3-3. As for Boquet Valley, they now have a winning record of 4-3.

Seton Catholic Central wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 51-33 victory against Lake Placid on the 11th. Boquet Valley has also already played their next game, a 35-31 win against Colton-Pierrepont on the 11th.
