Softball Preview: Ingleside Mustangs vs. Calallen Wildcats
The Ingleside Mustangs will face off against the Calallen Wildcats on Thursday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Ingleside is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. They were the clear victor by a 15-2 margin over Pearsall. The win was nothing new for Ingleside as they're now sitting on three straight.
Kylee Ward was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching seven innings while giving up just two earned runs off seven hits. Ward has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't pitched less than six innings in six consecutive pitching appearances. Ward was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-5 with two RBI and a double.
In other batting news, Ingleside got a massive performance out of Mercedez Hernandez, who went 3-for-5 with three runs, three doubles, and three RBI. Avery Adame was another key contributor, scoring two runs while going 3-for-4.
Meanwhile, Calallen had already won 21 in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 9.4 runs), and they went ahead and made it 22 on Thursday. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Bearkats a 17-0 shutout.
