League recap: Columbia Central tops Spring Hill to extend winning streak

AAA District 8 recap Oct. 9, 2012

Columbia Central extended the longest winning streak in AAA District 8 this week by beating Spring Hill, 39-0. The victory was the fifth in a row for the Lions.

Lawrence County moved up to 182 from 221 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in the league. The Wildcats were able to make the jump by beating Franklin 21-14.

Franklin County's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Caleb Limbaugh threw for 16 and one touchdown and Craig Watson had 16 yards receiving. On the ground Layton Wells chipped in 136 yards.

Tullahoma's Justin Brown and Zane Price have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Brown has thrown for 1273 yards this season, while Price has 30 catches for 422 yards. The Rebels' Koleton Nunley leads the league in rushing yards with 724.

A big matchup in AAA District 8 this week will be when Shelbyville Central takes on the Wildcats. At the moment, the Golden Eagles are in fourth, while Tullahoma is in third.

Franklin County took down Lancaster Christian Academy 69-16 last week, the largest margin of any game. Wells in the win.
