Softball Recap: Silverton's Winning Streak Snapped at Four Games

Silverton dropped their record down to 14-7 on Wednesday, which also ended the team's four-game streak of wins. They fell just short of the Dallas Dragons by a score of 2-1. The Foxes were red-hot at the plate heading into the match (they scored no less than ten runs in the four games prior), but the Dragons' pitcher proved too tough.

Madalynn Ehrens was cooking despite her team's loss, going 1-for-3 with one home run.

As for Dallas, they are on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 11 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-7 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.5 runs on average over those games.

On Dallas' side, Mahayla Benoit spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on one hit and racked up eight Ks. Benoit has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Dallas' victory was truly a team effort as three different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Maddi Jones, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

Looking ahead, Silverton will look to defend their home field on Friday against Lebanon at 5:00 p.m. As for Dallas, they will challenge South Albany at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. The Dragons' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Redhawks have averaged an impressive 7.5 runs per game this season.
