Basketball Recap: Oaktree Academy Takes Loss Despite Strong Efforts from Caleb Reeves and Mike Mckay

Oaktree Academy was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They received a blow as they fell 59-43 to the Summit Christian Academy Eagles. The Grizzlies were down 52-31 at the end of the third quarter, which was just too much to recover from.

Oaktree Academy's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Mike McKay, who went 7 of 17 on his way to 16 points and four steals, and Caleb Reeves, who dropped a double-double on ten points and 13 boards. Reeves is crushing it when it comes to rebounds: he's pulled down at least 13 every time he's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Darius Echols, who posted five points and three steals.

Even though they lost, Oaktree Academy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 17 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 17 offensive boards in three consecutive matchups.

Summit Christian Academy found their leader in sophomore Courtland Reiter, who dropped a double-double on 21 points and 12 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Reiter has scored all season. Cole Miller was another key player, going 5 of 7 on his way to 14 points and five rebounds.

Oaktree Academy's record is now 0-3. As for Summit Christian Academy, they moved to 3-7 with that win, which also ended their four-game losing streak.

Oaktree Academy didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 64-47 loss against StoneBridge on the 19th. As for Summit Christian Academy, they will take on Portsmouth Christian in a tournament on Friday.
