Basketball Recap: Portales Takes a Loss

Portales lost against Lovington last Friday, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Portales Rams took a blow against the Lovington Wildcats, falling 86-58. The Rams were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 46-21.

Lovington's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Kayle Covington, who dropped a double-double with 17 points and 17 rebounds. The match was Covington's 11th in a row with at least 15 points. Another player making a difference was Braxtyn Valenzuela, who went 6-for-8 from beyond the arc en route to 22 points.

Portales has been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last seven contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 12-15 record this season. Lovington pushed their record up to 18-10 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home.

As of now, neither Portales nor Lovington have any future games scheduled.
