Baseball Recap: John Glenn Takes a Loss

John Glenn had lost five straight on the road, but on Monday they dropped their record down to 5-14 to make it six. They fell just short of the New Lexington Panthers by a score of 9-8. The Little Muskies were not able to make up for their loss to the Panthers from their previous meeting back in April of 2024.

Zane Townsend and Wylee Woodard stepped up to the plate in a big way. Townsend got on base in four of his five plate appearances with two runs and one RBI, while Woodard got on base in four of his five plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Reid Howard, who went 2-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

As for New Lexington, the win was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 10-8. That's two games straight that they have won by just one run.

On New Lexington's side, Carter Hahn and Nick Metzger did most of the damage at the plate: Hahn got on base in three of his four plate appearances with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run, while Metzger went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs and one double. The Panthers are undefeated when Metzger posts two or more runs, but 7-8 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Paul Stenson, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. John Glenn will venture away from home to square off against Philo at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for New Lexington, they will head out to face off against Amanda-Clearcreek at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
