Softball Recap: Joliet West's Losing Streak Snapped at Eight Games

There's no place like home for Joliet West, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Saturday. They had just enough and edged out the Cary-Grove Trojans 7-6. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Tigers as it put an end to their eight-game losing streak.

Cole Laci looked comfortable as she tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Madaline Woods, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. That stolen base marked the first that she has snagged this season. Hope Hughes was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI.

Joliet West's win bumped their record up to 3-17. As for Cary-Grove, their loss was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 6-13.

Joliet West has already played their next matchup, a 13-12 defeat against St. Charles East on the 3rd. As for Cary-Grove, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next contest, a 14-0 loss against Kaneland on the 3rd.
