Basketball Recap: Bowling Green Takes a Loss

Bowling Green was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They were outmatched by the Clopton Hawks and fell 74-23. While losing is never fun, the Bobcats can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Missouri basketball rankings (they are ranked 397th, while the Hawks are ranked 44th).

When it comes to explaining why Bowling Green lost, don't look at Sydney Charlton. Despite the final result, she dropped a double-double on ten points and 11 boards. That was a full 43.5% of Bowling Green's points, marking the third time in a row she's posted more than a third of the team's points. Layla Berry was another key player, putting up seven points.

Clopton got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Tinleigh Spoonster out in front who went 7 of 12 en route to 17 points and six steals. Those six steals gave Spoonster a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Ashlyn Noah, who went 7 for 12 to rack up 16 points and six rebounds.

Bowling Green's loss dropped their record down to 5-10. As for Clopton, they pushed their record up to 14-2 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home.

Bowling Green has already played their next matchup, a 51-39 defeat against Winfield on the 29th. As for Clopton, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 69-46 win against Silex on the 29th.
