Appomattox County has won four straight games at home, while Buckingham has won four straight on the road dating back to last season, but those streaks won't matter much on Thursday. The Raiders will host the Knights at 5:30 p.m. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.
Appomattox County is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They never let Gretna get on the board and left with a 14-0 win on Tuesday. The Raiders haven't had any issues with the Hawks recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive victory against them.
Appomattox County got a great performance from Isaac Records as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out nine over five innings pitched. Records also tossed no walks, which is notable because the Raiders are 4-2 when he allows at most one walk, but 1-2 otherwise.

On the hitting side, Jack Wilkerson was a standout: he went 2-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high. Micah Wilson was another key player, going 3-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and one double.
Appomattox County always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .600. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Buckingham made easy work of Nottoway on Tuesday and carried off a 22-3 win. That looming 22-3 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Knights yet this season.
Buckingham got a massive performance out of Avery Schaeffer, who scored three runs while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances. Schaeffer also got a hit, marking his first of the season. Another player making a difference was Blake Shumaker, who went 2-for-4 with four RBI and two runs.
Buckingham's victory bumped their record up to 4-0. As for Appomattox County, they now have a winning record of 5-4.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Thursday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Appomattox County has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.4 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Buckingham struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 9.8 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Appomattox County couldn't quite finish off Buckingham in their previous matchup back in March and fell 5-3. Will the Raiders have more luck at home instead of on the road? Come back here after the game to get an analysis of the match and other baseball content.
