Baseball Game Preview: Pikeville Panthers vs. Johnson Central Golden Eagles

The Pikeville Panthers will face off against the Johnson Central Golden Eagles at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Pikeville will be strutting in after a win while Johnson Central will be coming in after a loss.

On Monday, Pikeville needed a bit of extra time to put away Letcher County Central. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Cougars / Lady Cougars, sneaking past 9-7. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Panthers have posted since May 10, 2024.

Bradyn Hall and Bash Ryan did most of the damage at the plate: Hall went a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, one triple, and one run, while Ryan went 1-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. That's the most hits Hall has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Isaiah Stanley, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3.

They weren't the only ones working in the hit department: Pikeville kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Letcher County Central only managed nine hits.

Meanwhile, Johnson Central wound up with the same score they had in their last game (6-2), but sadly the team found themselves on the wrong side of the score this time.

Pikeville's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-3. As for Johnson Central, they now have a losing record of 1-2.

Pikeville took their victory against Johnson Central in their previous matchup back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 10-0. Will Pikeville repeat their success, or does Johnson Central has a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
