Softball Recap: Wood River Takes a Loss

Wood River extended their losing streak to three on Thursday, dropping them down to 10-16. They came up short against the Minico Spartans, falling 7-1. Surprisingly, this marked the third straight game in which the away team has come away the victor in this series.

As for Minico, they pushed their record up to 10-13 with the win, which was their sixth straight on the road. Considering they have won eight games by more than five runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

For Minico's part, Presley Lettington spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on four hits.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Jenalie Juarez, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double. That double was her first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of Nyliah Salinas, who went 2-for-4 with one run and one RBI.

Wood River does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Minico, they wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next matchup, a 2-1 loss against Burley on the 4th.
