Softball Recap: Eagan Comes Up Short

Shakopee hit Eagan with a seven-run third inning on Thursday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Wildcats fell just short of the Sabers by a score of 10-9. That's two games in a row now that the Wildcats have lost by just one run.

Sydney Holt made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and went a perfect 4-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI. Maddie Fletcher was another key player, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with one stolen base and one run.

Eagan is on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-6. Even worse, they were so close so many times: the defeats came by an average of only 2.5 runs. As for Shakopee, they moved to 3-5 with that victory, which also ended their four-game losing streak.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: the Sabers beat Eagan by a score of 10-9 on Friday.
