Soccer Game Preview: Waynesboro vs. James River

The Waynesboro Little Giants will head out on the road to square off against the James River Knights at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Waynesboro has four straight victories, James River has three straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the pitch.

Waynesboro had to skate by with only a one-goal margin when they last took the pitch, which might have inspired the 11-goal drubbing they dealt Buffalo Gap on Thursday. The Little Giants put the hurt on the Bison with a sharp 11-0 win. Waynesboro might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five games by seven goals or more this season.

Meanwhile, James River lost 6-1 to Alleghany on Thursday. Things were pretty much settled by the half as James River were already down 3-0.

James River's defeat dropped their record down to 2-7. As for Waynesboro, their victory bumped their record up to 8-3-1.

Waynesboro took their win against James River in their previous matchup back in March by a conclusive 8-1 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Little Giants since the squad won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
