Baseball Recap: Carrabec Has No Trouble Against Rangeley Lakes

Carrabec won the last time they faced Rangeley Lakes and things went their way on Wednesday too. The Cobras blew past the Lakers 17-7. The Cobras might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four contests by ten runs or more this season.

Zack Davis made a big impact no matter where he played. He pitched 3.2 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Carrabec is undefeated when he allows at most one earned run, but 1-4 otherwise. Davis was also big at the plate, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with three stolen bases and two runs. With that strong performance, he is now averaging an impressive 1.1 stolen bases per game.

In other batting news, Logan Caldwell was a standout: he went 4-for-5 with three stolen bases, three runs, and two doubles. He has become a key player for Carrabec: the team is 3-1 when he posts at least three hits, but 1-3 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Wyatt Scott, who went 3-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and one double.

Carrabec always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .553. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Rangeley Lakes only posted an OBP of .308.

The win made it two in a row for Carrabec and bumps their season record up to 4-4. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 7 runs in those games. As for Rangeley Lakes, they are on a nine-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 0-9.

Coincidentally, Carrabec and Rangeley Lakes will both be playing Telstar the next time they take the field. The Cobras will head out to face the Rebels at 4:00 p.m. on Friday, while the Lakers will host them at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
