Football Recap: Clint Lions vs. Ysleta Indians
Clint managed to keep up with Ysleta until halftime on Friday, but things quickly went downhill from there. The Lions had to suffer through a 43-12 loss at the hands of the Indians. The Lions lost against the Indians in their previous head to head back in October of 2024, too, but the margin this time around was even wider than the 53-45 score last time.
Despite the loss, Clint still got an impressive performance from Brandon Quezada, who rushed for 118 yards and a pair of touchdowns. Quezada showed off some serious burst, turning on the afterburners on one carry for 50 yards.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Ysleta to victory, but perhaps none more so than Rodrigo Martinez, who rushed for 50 yards and one score, and also threw for 95 yards and a pair of TDs. The Indians' leading receiver Armando Guzman was Martinez's top target yet again, picking up 90 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
This is the second loss in a row for Clint and nudges their season record down to 3-5. As for Ysleta, the victory keeps them at an undefeated 7-0.
Coming up, Clint will be playing at home against Fabens at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Lions will be up against the Wildcats' rather soft defense (which has allowed 30 points per game), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. As for Ysleta, they will square off against Irvin at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. That contest will pit two of the most dominant signal callers against one another: Martinez and Dallas Medina.
