Football Game Preview: A.L. Brown Wonders vs. West Cabarrus Wolverines + How To Watch

The A.L. Brown Wonders will venture away from home to face off against the West Cabarrus Wolverines at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.

West Cabarrus will be up against a hot A.L. Brown team: the squad just extended their winning streak to three. The Wonders put the hurt on Cox Mill with a sharp 47-21 win on Friday. The Wonders might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four games by 26 points or more this season.

AJ Settles produced another solid performance rushing for 122 yards and three scores on only ten carries, while also throwing for 195 yards and a pair of touchdowns while completing 75% of his passes. Those three rushing touchdowns gave him a new career-high. Lemar Grier was another key player, rushing for 147 yards and a pair of TDs while picking up 8.6 yards per carry.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: A.L. Brown was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 305 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 179 rushing yards in six consecutive matchups.

A.L. Brown didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Demetrius Adams and Faison Manning.

Meanwhile, it may have taken overtime to finish the job, but West Cabarrus ultimately got the result they hoped for on Friday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Central Cabarrus, sneaking past 41-38. The Wolverines' offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.

West Cabarrus now has a winning record of 5-4. As for A.L. Brown, their record now sits at 6-3.

Thursday's contest might be decided on the ground. A.L. Brown has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 215.2 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like West Cabarrus struggles in that department as they've been averaging 147.9 rushing yards. There's a good chance Thursday's game turns into a tough fight on the ground.

A.L. Brown couldn't quite finish off West Cabarrus when the teams last played back in October of 2024 and fell 16-14. Thankfully for the Wonders, Daylon Fuller (who rushed for 189 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 7.9 yards per carry) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result? There's only one way to find out.
