Basketball Game Preview: Sheldon Irish vs. Grants Pass Cavemen

The Sheldon Irish will face off against the Grants Pass Cavemen at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. The timing is sure in Sheldon's favor as the squad sits on three straight wins at home while Grants Pass has been banged up by six consecutive losses on the road.

Sheldon will bounce into Friday's game after beating South Medford, who they had gone 2-7 against in their nine prior meetings. Sheldon had just enough and edged South Medford out 57-54. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Irish have posted since January 30, 2024.

Meanwhile, Grants Pass ended up a good deal behind South Medford on Tuesday and lost 61-47.

Sheldon has been performing well recently as they've won eight of their last ten matches, which provided a nice bump to their 9-5 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 62.3 points per game. As for Grants Pass, their loss dropped their record down to 4-9.

Sheldon came up short against Grants Pass when the teams last played back in February of 2024, falling 58-45. Can Sheldon avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
