Recap: Avon Orioles vs. Fishers Tigers
The Avon Orioles's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their fourth straight loss. They lost to Fishers at home by a decisive 66-50 margin. While losing is never fun, Avon can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 106th, while Fishers is ranked 13th).
Several Orioles players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Makaylee Butts, who scored 11 points along with five assists. Another player making a difference was Nevaeh Wren, who scored eight points.
Fishers' win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Nevaeh Dickman, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 14 rebounds. Dickman is on a roll when it comes to blocks, as she's now posted two or more in the last three games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Talia Harris, who scored 20 points along with seven assists.
Avon's defeat was their fourth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 8-12. As for Fishers, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 15-5.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Avon will face off against Bloomington South at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Fishers, they will head out on the road to square off against Lawrence North at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Lawrence North is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 62.8 points per game.
