Softball Preview: Quaker Valley Quakers vs. Northgate Flames

The Quaker Valley Quakers will head out to face off against the Northgate Flames at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday.

Quaker Valley lost 8-1 to Keystone Oaks on Tuesday. The Quakers have struggled against the Golden Eagles recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost meeting.

Quaker Valley saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Gemma Wiegand, who scored a run while going 1-for-2.

Meanwhile, Northgate waltzed into their game on Wednesday with three straight wins... but they left with four. They came out on top against the Lions by a score of 11-7. While the Flames didn't have the best season last year (they finished 7-11), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

Johna Abramowicz made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 14 batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and six unearned) runs off eight hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than nine strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in four of her seven plate appearances with three RBI, one triple, and one run. That triple was her first of the season.

Northgate's record now sits at 5-2. As for Quaker Valley, their loss dropped their record down to 1-1.
