Basketball Recap: Pleasant Valley Comes Up Short

Pleasant Valley extended their losing streak to five on Monday, dropping them down to 5-5. They had to suffer through a 72-42 loss at the hands of the Cleburne County Tigers. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Raiders of the 64-44 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in January of 2016.

As for Cleburne County, the victory (which was their 11th in a row) raised their record to 12-1. They have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won six matchups by 25 points or more this season.

Cleburne County found their leader in sophomore Lyric Ware, who went 8-for-12 on his way to 22 points and six steals. Ware also set a new season-high mark in field goal percentage with 67%. Caleb Fields was another key player, putting up ten points.

Pleasant Valley has already played their next game (against Ohatchee), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. As for Cleburne County, they will square off against White Plains at 7:30 p.m. on January 6, 2026.
